Donald Trump Warns of World War III, Criticizes Biden Amid Middle East Escalations
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has issued a dire warning, suggesting that the world is on the brink of World War III. His statement came shortly after Israel launched a series of airstrikes on Lebanon to counter a planned rocket offensive by Hezbollah, a move that has heightened tensions in the Middle East.
On Sunday, Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize President Joe Biden, accusing him of inaction as the situation in the Middle East deteriorates. “Sleepy Joe is sleeping on California beach,” Trump said, adding that Biden is failing to address the growing crisis. He also took aim at Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her “Comrade Kamala,” and criticized her running mate, Tim Walz, calling him a “really bad VP pick.”
“Who is negotiating for us in the Middle East? Bombs are dropping all over the place! Sleepy Joe is on a Beach in California, viciously exiled by the Democrats, and Comrade Kamala is doing a campaign bus tour with Tampon Tim, her really bad V.P. Pick. Let’s not have World War III, because that’s where we’re heading!” Trump’s post read.
His comments followed an unannounced visit by US Air Force General CQ Brown to the Middle East on Saturday. The visit aimed to discuss measures to prevent further escalation that could lead to a broader conflict.
Meanwhile, Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for firing more than 320 Katyusha rockets and drones into Israel as retaliation for the death of their top commander, Fuad Shukr.
Both sides observed a temporary pause in hostilities on Sunday morning, while Egypt hosted high-level talks to broker a cease-fire in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, which has now stretched into its 10th month.
The Biden administration has been closely monitoring the situation, with National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett stating that President Biden is “closely monitoring events in Israel and Lebanon.” He reaffirmed the US commitment to supporting Israel’s right to defend itself while working towards regional stability.
Last week, President Biden held a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, discussing potential strategies for achieving a cease-fire in Gaza and securing the release of hostages. This call came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s diplomatic mission to the Middle East, which ended without a truce agreement between Israel and Hamas militants.
As tensions continue to rise, the Biden administration has reinforced its support for Israel, supplying additional arms to bolster its defenses against potential threats from Hezbollah, Yemen, and Iran.
