Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared a video of his Diwali celebration amidst the ongoing India-Canada diplomatic tensions. On X (formerly Twitter), Trudeau wrote, “Happy Diwali! So many special moments shared celebrating with the community this week.”
In the video, Trudeau showcased the religious threads on his wrist, which he had received from three Hindu temples in Canada over recent months. He stated, “These threads provide me with protection, and I am not taking them off until they fall off.”
The video also depicted Trudeau being offered jalebis, which he said he would “save for the team.” On October 31, Trudeau had extended Diwali greetings, appreciating the Indo-Canadian community’s contributions in various fields, such as business, culture, and medicine.
The diplomatic tension between India and Canada began in September 2023, following the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau alleged that Indian agents were involved, a claim strongly denied by India. This led Canada to expel six Indian diplomats, and India responded similarly by recalling its diplomats.
