On October 25, authorities busted a meth lab in Greater Noida run by a Tihar jail warden, a Delhi businessman, and a Mumbai chemist, seizing 95 kg of drugs. A joint operation by the NCB and Delhi Police’s Special Cell uncovered this clandestine lab that produced synthetic drugs for domestic use and export, with connections to the Mexican drug cartel ‘Cartel De Jalisco Nueva Generacion.’

The operation also revealed that the lab used chemicals procured with the help of a warden from Tihar jail, along with imported machinery to enhance drug production. Following the raid, four individuals, including a chemist from Mumbai, were detained. The authorities are tracking the financial assets linked to this operation. NCB officials highlighted that clandestine labs in industrial zones are a growing trend, with similar labs recently dismantled in Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

Two recent raids by Delhi Police in early October resulted in drug seizures worth Rs 7,600 crore. In Mahipalpur, authorities seized 560 kilograms of cocaine and 40 kilograms of marijuana smuggled in from Thailand, while in Ramesh Nagar, 204 kilograms of high-quality cocaine hidden in snack packets were recovered. The syndicate, linked to suppliers in the UK and the Middle East, used coded language and encrypted communication for operations.
