The BJP has sharply criticized Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent meeting with US lawmaker Ilhan Omar. Gandhi met with Omar during his trip to the US on Tuesday, sparking backlash from BJP leaders.
In a press conference on Wednesday, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, “Rahul Gandhi is known for his anti-India rhetoric, but his latest action is concerning. He became the first Leader of the Opposition to meet US Representative Ilhan Omar, who is infamous for her anti-India stance.”
Gandhi had met several US lawmakers at the Rayburn House Office Building in Washington on Tuesday. The meeting, hosted by Congressman Bradley James Sherman, included representatives such as Jonathan Jackson, Ro Khanna, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Barbara Lee, Shri Thanedar, Jesús G ‘Chuy’ García, Ilhan Omar, Hank Johnson, and Jan Schakowsky.
Sudhanshu Trivedi remarked, “He has further added another feather to the cap of his anti-India friends.”
He added, “Rahul Gandhi is not acting foolishly, but dangerously. He is now aligning with what anti-India elements would desire.”
