Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at a rally in Chaibasa, Jharkhand, strongly condemned the comment made by Arvind Sawant against Shaina NC. The derogatory remark, which went viral, triggered widespread criticism in Maharashtra. Modi highlighted how using offensive language against women has become common among opposition parties, saying, “A sister is contesting elections in Maharashtra, and look at the filthy language used against her. It has become their habit.”
He also referenced similar incidents in Jharkhand, noting how Congress leader Irfan Ansari made inappropriate remarks about Sita Soren, Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law. Modi remarked, “We have seen what they did to our sister Sita Soren. Such statements by a Congress leader insult the entire tribal community.”
In response to the controversy, Arvind Sawant issued an apology, clarifying that his statement was misinterpreted. He stated, “My statement was twisted. If anyone felt hurt, I apologize. I have never disrespected women in my 55 years of political career.”
Recently, Shaina NC joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena after leaving the BJP. Surprisingly, she appeared on the Shiv Sena candidate list while still in the BJP and then swiftly joined Shinde’s faction.
