PM Modi Criticizes Congress Over Journalist Assault

PM Modi Defends Ganesh Puja: Congress Reacts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the Congress of “brutality” after a journalist from India Today reported an assault by Rahul Gandhi’s team in the United States. Speaking at a rally in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, PM Modi remarked, “Congress claims to run a shop of love, but cruelty was shown to an Indian journalist on American soil.”

Modi questioned how the Congress’ actions reflected on India’s democratic values, saying, “They call themselves defenders of free speech, yet they treated a journalist with such brutality. Is this how democracy is upheld by beating an Indian journalist abroad?”

The incident occurred when India Today journalist Rohit Sharma was interviewing senior Congress leader Sam Pitroda. Rahul Gandhi’s team allegedly found the question controversial and stopped the interview. Sharma reported that Congress workers forcefully deleted the recording from his phone.

Reacting to the incident, Pitroda said, “I do not support this kind of behavior. I will look into the matter and ensure respect for journalists.”
