Aakhir Tak – In Depth:

During a public event in Darbhanga, Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attempted to touch Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s feet, an action that quickly became a viral moment on social media. In the video, 73-year-old Nitish Kumar approaches the 74-year-old Prime Minister with folded hands, bowing down to touch his feet. PM Modi, however, quickly stopped him and shook his hand instead. This marks the third instance this year where Kumar has shown such respect toward Modi.

This gesture was not the first. In June, Nitish Kumar surprised onlookers in Parliament’s Central Hall when he attempted to touch Modi’s feet. He also briefly touched Modi’s feet at an election rally in Nawada in April.

At the Darbhanga event, PM Modi praised Nitish Kumar’s leadership for transforming Bihar, commending him for steering the state out of the “jungle raaj” era, a phrase associated with Lalu Prasad Yadav’s rule. Modi acknowledged Kumar’s “good governance model,” calling it a remarkable achievement for Bihar.

The Prime Minister further highlighted the strides Bihar has made in health infrastructure under the NDA-led government. Modi noted that previous administrations neglected health facilities, whereas Kumar’s leadership focused on strengthening these systems. At the event, PM Modi laid the foundation for several critical infrastructure projects, including an AIIMS and other healthcare improvements.
