Netanyahu’s Message to Lebanon: Take Back Your Country
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a direct appeal to the people of Lebanon amid the ongoing conflict with Hezbollah. Referring to Lebanon as “the pearl of the Middle East” known for its “tolerance and beauty,” Netanyahu urged the Lebanese to reclaim their country from Hezbollah, which he said had turned it into “a stockpile of ammunition and a forward Iranian military base.”
Netanyahu’s statement came as Israel expanded its ground operations in southern Lebanon, initiating localized military activities as part of ‘Operation Northern Arrows’ against Hezbollah.
A Warning Against Hezbollah
In his message, Netanyahu warned the Lebanese that their country has descended into “chaos and war.” He cautioned that if Hezbollah continues to engage in conflict, Lebanon could face a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering, similar to what has been witnessed in Gaza. He implored the Lebanese people to take action and “bring the country back on the path of peace and prosperity.”
He said, “Now, the Lebanese people stand at a significant crossroads. You can either reclaim your country or let Hezbollah drag it into a wider war.”
Israel’s Determination
Reaffirming Israel’s commitment to eliminating Hezbollah, Netanyahu claimed that thousands of Hezbollah militants, including former chief Hassan Nasrallah, had already been killed. He stressed that Israel will do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of its people.
He added, “Israel has decided to put an end to this. We have the right to defend ourselves, and we will win.”
Despite Israel’s military advancements, Hezbollah has remained defiant. On Tuesday, Hezbollah’s former deputy, Naim Qassem, stated that the group had overcome the “painful blows” inflicted by Israel and that its capabilities remain intact.
