Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the Mahayuti alliance would not witness any “musical chair” situation for the chief minister’s post after the upcoming assembly elections. He emphasized that the alliance already has a policy in place for choosing the chief minister.
Fadnavis stated, “There will be no musical chair for the chief minister’s post after the Maharashtra Assembly elections. No promises have been made for such arrangements. None of our alliance leaders, including Eknath Shinde, have demanded the post. Everyone trusts the process will be fair.”
Discussing Mahayuti’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections and anti-incumbency, Fadnavis noted that there is pro-incumbency for the ruling alliance due to the welfare measures initiated. “I might sound overconfident, but people appreciate the development efforts over the past two and a half years,” he said.
Taking a dig at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), he mentioned that the opposition is now promising double the benefits they once criticized. “Earlier, they questioned our programs and budget. Now, they promise double benefits. We have the Centre’s support. Who supports them?” he remarked.
On Mahayuti’s campaign strategy, Fadnavis assured that development and welfare programs would be central. However, he defended the ‘Batenge toh katenge’ slogan. “A divided society is doomed. Yet, the campaign will focus on development,” he explained.
Maharashtra’s elections are set for November 20, with results declared on November 23.
