5 Dead, Many Trapped in Lucknow Building Collapse

A tragic building collapse in Transport Nagar, Lucknow, has left the city in shock. The three-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening, killing at least five people and trapping many others. Authorities have rescued 28 individuals from the debris, while several more are still feared trapped. The incident has prompted a massive rescue operation involving teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), fire department, and local police.

The collapse occurred around 5 PM when the building, which was being used as a godown, suddenly came down, crushing a nearby parked truck. The exact cause of the collapse is still under investigation. Lucknow Police Commissioner Roshan Jacob confirmed that rescue teams are working tirelessly to find and save any remaining victims.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken note of the situation and instructed officials to provide immediate medical attention to the injured. His office released a statement urging all rescue teams to expedite their efforts and ensure proper treatment for those affected. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also expressed his grief over the incident, stating that he is closely monitoring the situation.

The injured individuals have been admitted to the hospital, and rescue operations are ongoing. The cause behind the collapse remains unknown, but the priority is on saving lives and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area. This incident highlights the urgent need for rigorous building safety standards to prevent future tragedies.
