Kangana Ranaut Clarifies Her Farm Laws Remarks: BJP Distances Itself
Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has once again sparked controversy after she suggested that the three farm reform laws, which were previously repealed following large-scale protests, should be reintroduced. Following her remarks, the BJP strongly condemned her statement, clarifying that it does not reflect the party’s official stance.
On Tuesday, the BJP distanced itself from Kangana’s comments, stating that she is not authorized to make such remarks on behalf of the party.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia, in a video message, said that Kangana’s comments were her “personal statement” and did not represent the party’s stance on the farm bills.
Ranaut took to social media platform X to emphasize that her views were purely personal. She wrote, “Absolutely, my views on Farmers Laws are personal, and they don’t represent the party’s stand on those Bills. Thanks.”
The controversy started earlier on Tuesday when Kangana, during a media interview, said, “I know this statement might be controversial, but the three farm laws should be reintroduced. Farmers should demand them themselves.”
She argued that the farm laws were beneficial for farmers, but they were repealed due to protests in certain states.
“Farmers are a pillar of strength in the nation’s development. I want to appeal to them to demand the laws back for their own good,” she said.
Notably, this is not the first time that the BJP has had to clarify its position regarding Kangana’s remarks. Last month, the party distanced itself from her comments on the farmers’ protest and urged her to exercise caution in making such statements in the future.
At that time, Kangana had claimed that the protests were leading India towards a “Bangladesh-like situation.” She had also alleged that dead bodies were found hanging and that rapes were occurring at the protest sites, drawing sharp criticism from both the BJP and the Opposition.
