Aakhir Tak – In Depth
On October 27, a major security breach was reported on Air India flight AI916 from Dubai to Delhi after a cartridge was found in a seat pocket. The flight landed at New Delhi Airport, where all passengers disembarked safely. According to an Air India spokesperson, a complaint was promptly filed with the Airport Police, strictly adhering to security protocols.
A cartridge contains a projectile, propellant, and primer enclosed in a metal casing. The presence of such an item on an aircraft is strictly prohibited due to security risks.
This incident comes at a time when over 400 flights have been subject to hoax threats circulating on social media. Although these threats were false, they have led to heightened security protocols. The Ministry of Civil Aviation is considering stricter measures against false threats, including placing offenders on no-fly lists.
Additionally, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has instructed social media platforms such as X and Meta to take swift action in removing misinformation and threats.
Earlier, on October 31, Maharashtra Police arrested a 35-year-old man, Shriram Uikey, from Nagpur for allegedly sending 30 bomb threat emails between October 25 and 30 to various airlines, airports, and ministers across India.
