Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Bomb threats targeted two flights, Akasa Air from Bengaluru to Delhi and IndiGo from Delhi to Mumbai, adding to a series of such hoaxes over the past three days. This marks the 12th bomb scare in recent days, all of which have been confirmed as hoaxes. Despite the threats turning out to be false, emergency protocols were followed to ensure passenger safety.
Akasa Air flight QP1335 was forced to return to Delhi after a bomb threat was received. The flight had 174 passengers, three infants, and seven crew members on board. It was en route to Bengaluru when the alert triggered an emergency landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. After the flight was safely deplaned and isolated, the threat was confirmed to be a hoax.
Similarly, a day prior, an IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad after receiving a hoax bomb threat via social media. Authorities thoroughly inspected the aircraft before allowing it to resume its journey.
In the past 48 hours, 10 flights, including major airlines like Air India and SpiceJet, have faced similar bomb threats. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is coordinating with cybersecurity agencies and the police to track down the culprits behind these hoax threats.
