Tejashwi Yadav's Bihar Was 'Like Switzerland': Prashant Kishor's Jibe

Poll strategist Prashant Kishor took a sharp dig at RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, remarking that Bihar was “like Switzerland” for him during his tenure in power. Kishor, known for his outspoken views, stated that it was ironic for Yadav to speak about Bihar’s development, especially given the 15-year rule of the RJD from 1990 to 2005.

Speaking at a press conference in Patna, Kishor said, “When Tejashwi Yadav was the Deputy Chief Minister just six months ago, Bihar looked like Switzerland to him. But now, six months later, Bihar has suddenly turned into a gutter in his eyes. If Nitish Kumar were to join the Mahagathbandhan again, Bihar would start looking great to him once more.”

Kishor’s comments came after Yadav accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of turning Bihar into a “demon’s rule.” Yadav claimed that under Kumar’s regime, it has become difficult for people to stay in their homes safely, with rising incidents of bribery and crime.

In response, Kishor questioned Yadav’s understanding of the state’s economic situation, saying, “It is laughable when someone who doesn’t know what GDP and GDP growth are talks about Bihar’s development. Their party was in power for 15 years; where was this development then?”

Furthermore, Kishor announced that his political movement, Jan Suraaj, would field 40 women candidates in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. He emphasized the importance of women’s economic independence, suggesting that women should receive loans at 4% interest rates with government guarantees to support their livelihoods.

Kishor also highlighted his vision for Bihar under Jan Suraaj, stating that his government would work to prevent the migration of Biharis due to low income. He urged voters to choose candidates based on merit rather than familial connections.

The Bihar Assembly elections, with 243 seats up for grabs, are anticipated to take place in late 2025.
