Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Eighteen Hindus were charged with sedition in Chattogram, Bangladesh, for hoisting saffron flags during a rally on October 25. The event featured an eight-point demand, including a law and ministry for minority protection. The case was filed at Kotwali Police Station on October 30 by Firoz Khan. Sedition charges require approval from Bangladesh’s home ministry and can lead to life imprisonment.
Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, implicated in the case, stated that their aim was not anti-government but focused on safeguarding minority rights. He emphasized the incident occurred 2 km from Lal Dighi, and he was not involved. Hindu organizations have noted a decline in their population, dropping from 22% in 1951 to less than 8%.
