India Today Expose: AAP Councillor Missing After Coaching Centre Deaths Runs PG at Home
The tragic deaths of three students in a Delhi coaching centre basement have led to political controversy. India Today’s investigation reveals that Arti Chawla, the AAP Councillor for Rajinder Nagar, has been unreachable since the incident.
Investigation and Findings
Despite repeated attempts, India Today correspondents were unable to contact Councillor Arti Chawla. The investigation led them to her registered address, which was found to operate as a Paying Guest (PG) accommodation for IAS aspirants. This address is located close to the site of the tragedy.
Safety Violations and Local Allegations
The PG accommodation reportedly houses IAS aspirants in cramped conditions, violating MCD building bylaws. Students residing there have expressed concerns about safety, citing narrow stairways and inadequate fire exits. The building’s conditions raise questions about the overall safety of such accommodations.
The investigation also highlighted the lack of concrete actions taken against municipal officials or bureaucrats following the tragedy. Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has demanded a detailed report from the Delhi government and municipal authorities.
