21-Year-Old Gang-Raped by Three Men Posing as Activists in Pune
Pune police arrested one suspect after he and his two friends gang-raped a 21-year-old woman. The survivor’s friend was also beaten up before the accused raped the woman. This incident occurred in Pune’s Bopdev Ghat area when the woman went there with a friend.
The arrested suspect, identified as 36-year-old Raje Khan Karim Pathan, is a resident of Kondhwa. According to police, the accused approached the woman and her friend in a car, claiming to be a human rights activist. He said that couples were prohibited in the area and took photos of the duo. Then, Pathan threatened the woman and forced her into his car.
After driving her to a different location, Pathan and his two friends gang-raped her. The accused also beat up the survivor’s friend before committing the crime. They later left her injured and fled the scene.
The survivor has been admitted to a hospital for treatment and filed a complaint with the Kondhwa police early this morning, leading to Pathan’s arrest.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman suffered several injuries. Senior police officers and Crime Branch teams are investigating the case. A search is underway for the other two accused, with 10 teams from the Crime Branch and Detection Branch (DB) deployed to locate and arrest the remaining suspects.
