Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Anant Ambani’s Vantara, located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, is providing a new home for three African forest elephants. Two females and one male, aged 28 to 29 years, will be transferred from a private wildlife facility in Tunisia. These elephants were originally moved from Burkina Faso to Tunisia over 20 years ago, where they have lived for nearly 23 years.
This Diwali, Anant Ambani arranged a charter plane to bring these elephants to Vantara, which was contacted to provide a supportive environment for their specific dietary, housing, and medical needs.
All regulatory and legal compliance has been completed, including alignment with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Their current housing situation is basic, with limited enrichment for their physical and mental well-being.
At Vantara, the elephants will experience a life that closely resembles their natural habitat. The team at Vantara is committed to creating an environment filled with compassionate care, promoting their physical, psychological, and social well-being, and giving them a renewed chance to thrive.
