Bulldozer Action on ‘Illegally Constructed’ House of Udaipur Stabbing Accused

Officials in Udaipur, Rajasthan, took decisive action by demolishing the illegally constructed house of a boy accused of stabbing a classmate. The demolition occurred on Saturday, amid a tense atmosphere in the city, as the accused, a class 10 student, allegedly stabbed a fellow student at a government-run school the day before.

Unauthorized Construction Demolished

The Udaipur district administration carried out the demolition after providing the accused’s family with time to remove their belongings from the unauthorized structure. According to officials, the boy and his father had been living on rent in the illegally built house. The action was part of the administration’s broader crackdown on unauthorized constructions and its commitment to maintaining law and order.

Tensions Rise Amid Demolition

A substantial police force was deployed to ensure that the demolition proceeded without any untoward incidents. However, despite these precautions, a minor scuffle broke out between locals and the police when they were asked to vacate the area. The situation was quickly brought under control, but the incident added to the already tense atmosphere in the city.

Communal Tensions in Udaipur

The stabbing incident has heightened communal tensions in Udaipur, particularly in the Madhuban area, where the incident occurred. Following the stabbing, members of several Hindu right-wing outfits gathered in the area, setting fire to at least three cars parked in a garage and engaging in stone-pelting. These actions have further strained relations between the two communities involved.

Prohibitory Actions Imposed

In response to the escalating situation, authorities have imposed prohibitory actions under Section 144, restricting large gatherings in the city to prevent further violence. The city remains on high alert as police and administration officials work to restore peace and order.

The swift demolition of the illegal structure sends a strong message about the administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward unauthorized constructions, especially in cases where such properties are linked to incidents that disturb public peace.
