Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Donald Trump’s hush money case proceedings have been temporarily halted by a New York state judge, an outcome creating significant debate. This case revolves around the charges against Trump, who faces 34 counts related to attempting to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election via an alleged hush money payment to adult star Stormy Daniels. In May 2024, a New York jury convicted Trump on all charges related to this scheme.
However, Trump has denied all accusations, pleading not guilty to any wrongdoing. After winning the November 5 U.S. election, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office requested a delay in the case proceedings. Judge Juan Merchan granted the request, pausing all actions until November 19.
In an email submitted by the DA’s office, they stated, “These are unprecedented circumstances.” Following this, the court has extended the time for the next hearing to determine if Trump’s conviction will be vacated.
Trump, following his victory in the U.S. election, petitioned the DA’s office for a deferral on the proceedings regarding his conviction. Consequently, the court has temporarily suspended the case pending further orders. Additionally, Trump was scheduled to receive his sentencing on November 26, but this date may also be subject to change.
