Aakhir Tak – In Depth
NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader Supriya Sule on Wednesday vehemently rejected BJP allegations of her involvement in illegal Bitcoin transactions to influence the outcome of the Maharashtra Assembly elections. “It’s not my voice. All these voice notes and messages are fake,” Sule told reporters after casting her vote.
The allegations stemmed from a press conference by BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Tuesday. Trivedi played audio clips accusing Sule and Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole of conspiring with a former police commissioner and a dealer to conduct illegal Bitcoin transactions to favor the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The MVA comprises the NCP (Sharad Pawar), Congress, and the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT).
Sule further stated, “A fake voice was generated. The police will find out the perpetrator. It is neither my voice nor Nana Patole’s.” She emphasized her outspoken opposition to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, asserting her commitment to complete transparency and willingness to answer any questions from the BJP. She expressed confidence in the Maharashtra Police to not arrest her without sufficient proof.
Sule confirmed sending a defamation notice to Sudhanshu Trivedi, stating her readiness to respond to him anytime, anywhere, and on any platform he chooses.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar, supporting his sister, stated his familiarity with both Sule’s and Patole’s voices, expressing confidence in the authenticity of the audio clips and supporting a thorough investigation. NCP leader Sharad Pawar backed his daughter, asserting that only the BJP would make such baseless accusations, referencing Trivedi’s past imprisonment.
Trivedi’s press conference presented alleged audio clips and chat screenshots suggesting MVA leaders’ need for election funds, involving a dealer and a jailed former police officer.
These accusations followed the opposition’s allegations against BJP general secretary in Maharashtra, Vinod Tawde, of involvement in a “cash for votes” scam—allegations Tawde and the BJP have denied.
Key Takeaways to Remember
Supriya Sule has denied the allegations of using cryptocurrency funds in the elections. This case involves Bitcoin transactions and the Maharashtra Assembly elections. The NCP leader called the accusations fake and demanded a thorough investigation.
