Stampede at Siddhanth Temple in Bihar Kills 7 Pilgrims

A tragic stampede at Baba Siddhanth Temple in Jehanabad, Bihar, has claimed the lives of seven pilgrims. The incident occurred early Monday morning, resulting in the death of five women and two men. Additionally, nine people sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to hospitals in Makhdumpur and Jehanabad.

Jehanabad District Magistrate Alankrita Pandey confirmed the fatalities and injuries. She assured that the situation was under control. “At least seven people died and nine were injured in the stampede at Baba Siddhnath Temple. We are monitoring everything, and the situation is now under control,” Pandey stated.

Following the incident, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police visited the scene. They are actively involved in managing the aftermath and supporting affected families. Jehanabad Station House Officer Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma emphasized that efforts are ongoing to identify the victims and arrange for post-mortem examinations.

“It is a sad incident,” said Vikas Kumar, Jehanabad’s Sub-Divisional Officer. “All arrangements were in place, and we are taking stock of the situation. We will provide further updates as we proceed.”

The incident is reminiscent of the July 2 stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, where over 120 people died during a religious gathering led by Baba Narayan Hari.
