Siddaramaiah’s Wife Returns Controversial Land Plots

Political Setback for Siddaramaiah: Wife Returns Controversial Land, BJP Alleges Guilt

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife, BM Parvathi, has returned 14 controversial plots of land, sparking political uproar. The BJP claims this action is an “admission of guilt,” a move that could politically damage the chief minister.

BM Parvathi wrote to the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) on Monday, stating her intention to return the plots that were exchanged for her undeveloped land. However, this move is now being used by the BJP to showcase it as proof of guilt.

The controversy began when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated an investigation into Siddaramaiah, Parvathi, and her brother Mallikarjuna Swamy for their involvement in the MUDA land scam. The FIR, filed by the Lokayukta police, alleged that Parvathi received compensatory plots in a prime Mysuru area, much higher in value than the original land she owned.

BJP leader Amit Malviya commented, saying Parvathi’s decision to return the plots is an “admission of guilt.” He listed charges of criminal conspiracy, misuse of public office, and fraud as part of the FIR.

Siddaramaiah defended his wife’s decision, stating that it was made to protect his honor. However, political critics and the BJP are using the return of the land as a major weapon against him.
