Siddaramaiah’s counsel, senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, argued that the Governor’s decision to sanction the probe was made without proper consideration of the evidence. Singhvi accused the Governor of acting on a frivolous complaint, despite the state Cabinet’s submission of a detailed report explaining why the complaint lacked substance.

The Governor’s order, a two-page document, was criticized for failing to provide a detailed justification for the sanction. Singhvi contended that the Governor’s actions were politically motivated and aimed at destabilizing Siddaramaiah’s government.
