- CM Eknath Shinde takes a dig at Uddhav Thackeray during the Dussehra rally.
- Shinde said true Shiv Sainiks never abandon their ideology.
- He claimed to have “freed” Shiv Sena by breaking ties with Uddhav.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, during the Dussehra rally at Azad Maidan on Saturday, targeted his rival Uddhav Thackeray, saying that true Shiv Sainiks never abandon their ground or ideology. Shinde remarked, “Balasaheb Thackeray gave the slogan ‘say with pride that we are Hindu.’ But now, some people hesitate to say this. We proudly chant this slogan.”
Taking an indirect jab at Uddhav Thackeray, Shinde said that he led Shiv Sena in the right direction by parting ways with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in 2022. Shinde further added, “If we hadn’t taken that step, true Shiv Sainiks would have been degraded.”
Shinde continued, “After our government came into power, they kept setting deadlines for it to collapse. But this Eknath Shinde was enough to handle them. Today, Maharashtra is number 1 in investments and FDI under our leadership.”
The Shiv Sena split into two factions in 2022 when Shinde staged a rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, leading to the fall of the MVA government. Uddhav Thackeray was removed as Chief Minister, and Eknath Shinde assumed the post with the support of the BJP.
Speaking about the recent Lok Sabha election results, Shinde called the MVA’s success “accidental” and confidently stated that the upcoming state elections would see a landslide victory for Mahayuti. “What happened in Haryana will happen in Maharashtra,” he added.
