Sheikh Hasina Accuses US of Regime Change Plot

India Urged US to Ease Pressure on Bangladesh's Sheikh Hasina

Sheikh Hasina’s Big Charge Against US in Undelivered Speech: A Message to Students

Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who recently fled the country amidst violent student protests, had prepared a speech accusing the United States of plotting a regime change in Bangladesh. This speech, however, was never delivered due to her sudden departure on August 5.

In the undelivered address, Hasina claimed that she would have publicly confronted the alleged US plot if given the chance. Now in India, Hasina has made startling revelations. She stated that she could have retained power if she had made significant concessions to the US, such as ceding Saint Martin and the Bay of Bengal.

Hasina’s speech was intended to address the turmoil that had engulfed Bangladesh. She mentioned that her resignation was a measure to avoid witnessing further bloodshed. The 76-year-old leader expressed that remaining in the country would have resulted in more deaths and destruction.

In a letter that accompanied her departure, Hasina noted that her decision to resign was driven by a desire to prevent additional loss of life and property. She conveyed that her removal from power was a strategic choice to safeguard the lives of her people.

Hasina’s revelations underscore the intense political climate in Bangladesh and the complex international dynamics influencing the country’s stability.
