Aakhir Tak – In Depth:
Baba Siddique, known for hosting lavish iftar parties and his close ties with Bollywood’s biggest stars, was murdered in 2024 in Mumbai. Armed assailants attacked him, sending shockwaves through the political and film fraternity.
His iftar parties were legendary, and it was during one such party in 2013 that the five-year-long feud between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan came to an end. The rift had started in 2008 at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party when an argument escalated. The two actors avoided each other for five years after that.
At the 2013 Iftar, Siddique strategically seated Shah Rukh Khan next to Salman’s father, Salim Khan, leading to a face-to-face meeting between the two stars. They greeted each other with a hug, a moment captured in a viral photo that marked the end of their feud. Siddique humbly remarked, “Allah shows the way, I had no role to play.”
In his political career, Siddique served three consecutive terms as an MLA from Bandra West and held ministerial roles in Maharashtra’s Food & Civil Supplies, Labour, and FDA departments. After nearly 50 years with Congress, he joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 2024 after disagreements with Congress.
Following his death, Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, and Shilpa Shetty, alongside political figures, rushed to the hospital to pay their respects.
