Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Tensions escalated in Secunderabad after the Goddess Durga idol at the Muthyalamma temple was allegedly vandalized on Monday morning. This incident sparked outrage among the local community, leading to large-scale protests outside the temple. Locals caught the miscreant involved in the act and handed him over to the police. Following the incident, security was heightened, and efforts were made to restore peace in the area.
BJP leaders also joined the protests, demanding strict action. During the protests, BJP leader Madhavi Latha, along with several others, was detained by the police. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy visited the temple, interacting with protesters, and strongly condemned the act, describing it as a “shameful” attempt to disrupt communal harmony.
“This is a disgraceful incident. The culprit was caught by locals and handed over to the police. He did not come here for theft but to insult the Hindu community. Such incidents are continuously happening in different parts of Hyderabad, with some individuals deliberately trying to incite communal violence,” Reddy said.
A similar incident was reported in Hyderabad on October 12, where a man was arrested for allegedly damaging a Durga idol at a Puja pandal in Nampally Exhibition Grounds, Begum Bazar. According to the police, the individual was homeless and, while searching for food, accidentally damaged the idol.
