Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Sanjay Raut’s Big Claim on BJP
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has claimed that some BJP leaders are interested in reuniting with Uddhav Thackeray’s faction. However, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has dismissed the claim as false.
Is BJP Open to Reuniting with Uddhav Sena?
Raut stated, “Some BJP leaders want us back, and some of our leaders may feel the same. But there have been no formal discussions.” He further blamed BJP for “betraying us in 2019 and handing power to Eknath Shinde.”
Wedding Sparks Political Speculation
Raut’s remarks come after a wedding event where Uddhav Thackeray and BJP leader Chandrakant Patil were seen conversing. This sparked speculations about a potential reunion between the parties. A BJP functionary clarified that Thackeray and Patil share cordial relations, and Patil understands the historical importance of the BJP-Sena alliance.
The 2019 Shiv Sena-BJP Split
The BJP and Shiv Sena were allies for 25 years, but their alliance collapsed after the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections over the Chief Minister’s post. Thackeray then allied with Congress and NCP to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. However, in 2022, Eknath Shinde led a rebellion, split Shiv Sena, and formed a new government with BJP.
Fadnavis’ Response: “A Wedding Meet Isn’t an Alliance”
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis hit back at Raut, stating, “No one should assume that a casual meeting at a wedding means an alliance is in the works.” He further clarified that there are no ongoing discussions between BJP and Uddhav Sena.
