Online Booking Mandatory for Sabarimala Pilgrimage This Year
The Kerala government has made online booking mandatory for pilgrims visiting the Sabarimala shrine. This year, facilities will allow a maximum of 80,000 devotees per day. Ahead of the Sabarimala Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrimage season, the government decided to permit pilgrims through online booking only.
The decision was taken at a review meeting presided over by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. “There will be no spot booking at Sabarimala this time. We will monitor whether pilgrims arrive without booking. Additional parking arrangements have been made at Nilakkal and Erumeli,” said Devaswom Minister VN Vasavan.
The virtual queue will provide pilgrims the opportunity to choose their travel route at the time of booking. Thus, pilgrims can select a less congested travel path. Necessary facilities will be provided for devotees along the traditional forest path.
If vehicle control is required during peak hours, centers will be identified and necessary infrastructure will be provided. Repair works on roads and parking grounds leading to Sabarimala will be completed soon.
The Vishudhi Sena personnel will undergo health check-ups and ensure necessary training. Maintenance of the Sabari Guest House will be completed by October 31. The renovation of the Pranavam Guest House has already been completed.
