At a recent event in Pune, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat delivered a powerful speech on the current violence in Manipur, emphasizing the critical role played by RSS volunteers in the strife-torn state. Bhagwat remarked, “Whether we will become God or not, people will decide. We should not proclaim that we have become God.” He made these comments while commemorating the work of Shankar Dinkar Kane, popularly known as Bhaiyyaji, who was instrumental in advancing children’s education in Manipur until 1971.
Bhagwat addressed the current unrest in Manipur, where clashes between two communities have resulted in over 200 deaths and 60,000 people displaced. He described the situation as “difficult” and “challenging,” noting the deep sense of insecurity among locals. “The situation prevailing in Manipur is a difficult one. There is no guarantee of safety,” Bhagwat stated. He emphasized that despite these challenges, RSS volunteers are steadfastly stationed in the region, working tirelessly to pacify tensions and support the community.
The RSS chief commended the volunteers for not fleeing amid the violence, highlighting their ongoing efforts to reduce anger between the conflicting groups. “The Sangh is leaving no stone unturned in doing what it can,” Bhagwat said, adding that the volunteers are engaging in dialogue with all parties involved to restore peace. He pointed out that the dedication of the Sangh volunteers has earned them trust among the local people.
Bhagwat also criticized the approach of handling such volatile situations with aggression. He stated, “Some people think that instead of being calm, we should shine like lightning. But after lightning strikes, it becomes even darker than before. Therefore, workers should burn like diyas and shine when necessary.” He urged the volunteers to continue their efforts in a calm yet persistent manner, likening their resilience to the steady light of a diya.
