Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Security concerns escalated in Rajkot, Gujarat, as bomb threats were emailed to 10 prominent hotels, including the Imperial Palace, Sayaji Hotel, Seasons, and Grand Regency. The email claimed bombs were placed in each area of these hotels, warning of potential detonation within hours, with significant casualties if not evacuated immediately.
The Rajkot Police promptly initiated a thorough investigation into the source of the threat, deploying enhanced security and inspections at each affected hotel. This threat comes during the festive season, raising anxiety among hotel management and tourists alike.
This incident follows a recent surge in bomb threats across India, targeting airlines like Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara. Over the past ten days, approximately 250 similar threats have been reported. On October 24, airports in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, and Jharsuguda received bomb alerts, which were later confirmed as hoaxes after thorough security checks.
In response to the escalating issue, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu stated that strict measures are being planned, including placing those responsible for false threats on a no-fly list to curb future hoaxes.
