In a tragic incident in Nagaur, Rajasthan, an elderly couple has reportedly died by suicide, leaving behind a note accusing their children and daughters-in-law of harassment over property disputes. The couple, identified as 70-year-old Hazariram Bishnoi and his 68-year-old wife Chawali Devi, allegedly jumped into a water tank at their home.
Police stated that the couple’s bodies were recovered from the water tank on Thursday. Neighbors, concerned after not seeing the couple for two days, alerted their son, who then notified the local police. Upon arrival, officers found the tank lid open and the couple’s bodies floating inside.
Station House Officer Manish Dev of the Kotwali police station mentioned that the bodies were retrieved from the tank and sent for post-mortem examination. “While the autopsy of Hazariram’s body has been completed, that of his wife’s will be conducted on Friday morning,” news agency PTI reported Manish Dev as saying.
According to a note purportedly left by Hazariram, he accused his sons and relatives of ongoing harassment. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
