Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, in a recent statement, alleged that a senior minister has been pressuring businesses to praise Prime Minister Narendra Modi on social media. This claim follows his recent op-ed, in which Gandhi detailed how a “new breed of monopolists” has started controlling business institutions and stifling fair businesses. According to Gandhi, this pressure is the result of a covert agreement between the government and large corporations, aiming to silence small and fair businesses.
Gandhi tweeted, “After my article, several play-fair businesses told me a senior minister had been calling and asking them to praise PM Modi and government programs on social media. Proves my point exactly!”
According to him, these monopolists have destroyed millions of businesses and rendered thousands of youth unemployed. In contrast, companies like Mahindra, Titan, Lenskart, Manyavar, and Zomato still play by the rules, he noted.
Gandhi further emphasized that challenging these monopolists is like battling the entire machinery of the Indian state. “The government cannot support one business at the cost of others, nor should it use secret agreements to suppress business,” he asserted.
He added that government agencies should not be used to intimidate and pressure businesses.
