In one case, an elderly Muslim man was assaulted by his co-passengers on an express train near Igatpuri in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, allegedly on suspicion that he was carrying beef. In another incident, a Muslim migrant from West Bengal was beaten to death in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri, allegedly by cow vigilantes who suspected him of eating beef.
