Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, during his visit to the US, claimed that the fear of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi disappeared after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Addressing members of the Indian community in Dallas, Texas, he stated that within minutes of the election results, no one in India was afraid of the BJP or the Prime Minister anymore.
Gandhi emphasized that the election was not a personal or party victory but a reflection of the Indian people’s will to stand up against perceived attacks on the Constitution and democratic values. “We will not accept attacks on our religion or our state,” he asserted.
He highlighted the ideological differences between the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Congress party, stating, “RSS believes India is one idea, while we believe India is a multiplicity of ideas.” According to him, the vision for India involves participation from people of all backgrounds, regardless of caste, religion, language, or tradition.
During the election campaign, Gandhi’s message centered on protecting India’s Constitution resonated with the public. “What people understood was that anyone attacking the Constitution is also attacking our religious tradition,” he explained.
Gandhi concluded by stressing the need for love, respect, and humility in Indian politics. His visit to the US is part of a broader outreach effort that includes engagements with students and US lawmakers ahead of the key US presidential election and upcoming assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir.
