Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the Indian diaspora in Herndon, Virginia, during his three-day US visit and launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the BJP, and the RSS. Rahul Gandhi stated that something had changed in India following the 2024 general elections, and the atmosphere of fear had disappeared. He said, “The idea of Mr. Modi, the 56-inch chest, and his direct connection with God, that’s all history now.”
Gandhi remarked that the fear created by the BJP, the PM, and pressure from the media vanished seconds after the election results. He criticized the RSS, accusing it of deeming certain states, languages, religions, and communities inferior.
He elaborated, “The RSS believes that Tamil, Manipuri, Marathi, Bengali are all inferior languages. Every state and its traditions are equally important, but RSS ideology does not recognize this.”
Rahul emphasized that the Constitution of India defines the country as a union of states, encompassing diverse traditions, cultures, and histories. He criticized the BJP for failing to understand this fundamental aspect of India.
After his speech in Virginia, Gandhi proceeded to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where he participated in an interactive session. He shared that halfway through his election campaign, he realized that PM Modi was not confident about winning a large number of seats.
“When Modi said, ‘I speak directly to God,’ we knew we had broken him internally,” he said, adding that the coalition that brought Modi to power had collapsed.
On the second consecutive day of his US visit, Rahul Gandhi continued to criticize the BJP, RSS, and the PM, noting that the fear of Modi and the BJP had vanished immediately after the election results.
