Gandhi’s Strong Critique of the Current Administration
In a recent Parliament debate, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. Gandhi accused the current administration of ensnaring India in a modern-day ‘chakravyuh’—a reference to a complex military formation from the Hindu epic Mahabharata. This ‘chakravyuh’, according to Gandhi, is being orchestrated by a select group of six individuals, including PM Modi and key figures in the BJP.
Historical and Contemporary ‘Chakravyuh’ Comparison
Gandhi drew a parallel between the ancient ‘chakravyuh’ that trapped Abhimanyu in the Mahabharata and the current political situation in India. He suggested that the modern ‘chakravyuh’ takes the shape of a Lotus, symbolized by the BJP’s lotus emblem. Gandhi argued that, similar to how Abhimanyu was encircled by six adversaries, India is currently under the control of six prominent figures: Modi, Amit Shah, Mohan Bhagwat, Ajit Doval, and industrialists Ambani and Adani.
Criticism of the Union Budget
In his address, Gandhi also criticized the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He claimed that the budget failed to address critical issues such as tax terrorism and the needs of small businesses, farmers, and the youth. Gandhi asserted that the budget primarily aimed to reinforce the power of monopoly businesses and the political framework that undermines democratic structures.
The ‘Chakravyuh’ Impact on Various Sectors
Gandhi outlined how this metaphorical ‘chakravyuh’ affects different sectors of Indian society. He highlighted how the youth are trapped in unemployment and paper leaks, farmers face crippling debt, the middle class endures excessive taxation, and MSMEs suffer from tax terrorism. Additionally, he criticized the education budget for being the lowest in 20 years, which he argued exacerbates the problems faced by students.
The INDIA Bloc’s Response
The INDIA bloc, led by Gandhi, has vowed to dismantle this ‘chakravyuh’. Gandhi promised that the bloc would push for reforms, including the caste census and guaranteed legal MSP, to break down the current system of fear and inequality. He emphasized that the youth of India, rather than being like Abhimanyu, are capable of challenging and overcoming the barriers imposed by the current administration.
Rahul Gandhi’s fiery speech in Parliament has set the stage for an ongoing political battle. His accusations against the Modi government and the critique of the Union Budget reflect deeper concerns about governance, economic policies, and social justice in India. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the response of the BJP and the effectiveness of the INDIA bloc’s proposed reforms will be closely watched.
