A 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three unidentified men, who also tied her male friend to a tree and assaulted him at an isolated place in Pune. The incident occurred on Thursday night, and Pune Police have now released sketches of two suspects based on the statements of the rape survivor and her friend.
The shocking incident took place in Pune’s Bopdev Ghat area, where the woman and her friend were approached by one of the accused, posing as a social activist. The man claimed that couples were prohibited in the area and began clicking their pictures. He then forced the woman into his car and drove her to a different location, where the group attacked her friend, tied him to a tree, and proceeded to sexually assault the woman.
After committing the crime, the assailants fled the scene, leaving the woman injured. She was later discovered and taken to a government hospital for treatment.
The police have released two sketches of the suspects, stating that one is 90% accurate based on the friend’s account, while the other is 70% accurate. In a bid to locate the accused, the police have appealed to the public for any information and provided three contact numbers: 8691999689, 8275200947, and 9307545045.
The survivor’s counseling is ongoing, and the police have formed 14 special teams to trace and apprehend the suspects involved in the heinous crime.
