Politics of failure by Mamata: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Assembly Cancels Friday Namaz Break

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has strongly reacted to Mamata Banerjee’s recent statement about unrest in Bengal affecting Assam and other states. He accused Banerjee of attempting to set India on fire with her “politics of failure.” Sarma’s response came after Banerjee, during a Trinamool Congress event, warned that “if Bengal burns, then Assam and Delhi too shall burn.”

Sarma, in a fiery tweet, questioned Banerjee’s intent, asking, “Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don’t show us your bloodshot eyes. Don’t try to set India on fire with your politics of failure. It does not suit you to speak divisive language.”

The Assam BJP leader Piyush Hazarika also criticized Banerjee, saying, “She can’t bully or threaten us. She should focus on maintaining law and order in her state rather than threatening others.”

Union Minister and Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumdar termed Banerjee’s comments as “anti-national,” adding that such statements should not come from a constitutional position holder.

Banerjee’s remarks were made while discussing the violence during the BJP’s bandh in Bengal, which led to clashes between BJP workers and Trinamool supporters. She drew a parallel between the unrest in Bengal and the protests in Bangladesh over a controversial quota system that had brought down the Sheikh Hasina government.

Banerjee accused Prime Minister Modi of inciting violence in Bengal, warning that if Bengal burns, other parts of India, including Assam, will also face unrest.
