PM Modi’s Kargil Diwas Speech: “We’ll Crush Terrorism”

On Kargil Vijay Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a powerful message from the Kargil War Memorial, addressing the ongoing threats from Pakistan and the recent challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. Prime Minister Modi’s speech at the memorial was both a tribute and a stern warning to adversaries.

PM Modi emphasized the successful conclusion of Operation Vijay, which ended a nearly three-month-long battle with Pakistan. The Prime Minister praised the valor and sacrifice of the Indian Army, asserting that the sacrifices made during the Kargil War serve as a powerful reminder of India’s strength and resilience.

Warning to Pakistan

Addressing the current security challenges, PM Modi issued a clear message to Pakistan. He criticized Pakistan for continuing its terror tactics and proxy warfare despite past failures. “Pakistan has not learned from its history,” Modi stated. He assured that India would respond forcefully to any terror-related provocations. “Our soldiers will crush terrorism with full force,” he asserted, reaffirming India’s commitment to safeguarding its territory and people.

Shinkun La Tunnel Project

In addition to his warning to Pakistan, PM Modi announced the commencement of the Shinkun La Tunnel project. This ambitious infrastructure project involves constructing a 4.1-kilometer-long twin-tube tunnel at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road. Upon completion, it will be the highest tunnel in the world.

The Shinkun La Tunnel is expected to revolutionize connectivity in Ladakh. It will ensure all-weather access to Leh, facilitating swift movement of armed forces and equipment. Furthermore, it will stimulate economic and social development in the region.

Defence Reforms and Infrastructure Development

PM Modi also addressed domestic issues, specifically criticizing the opposition for politicizing the Agnipath recruitment scheme. He accused them of misleading the youth for political gain. Modi emphasized that his government prioritizes defense reforms, aiming to strengthen the armed forces and enhance national security.

In his speech, PM Modi highlighted the rapid development of infrastructure and tourism in Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that these regions are witnessing significant growth and transformation. Modi mentioned that August 5 will mark five years since the abrogation of Article 370, which he claimed has paved the way for a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir.

On the 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas, leaders across the political spectrum paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the war. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the soldiers’ commitment and bravery, noting their role in securing the nation.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah described Kargil Vijay Diwas as a symbol of the soldiers’ valor and resolve. He praised their courage in the challenging terrain of the Himalayas.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also honored the memory of the Kargil War heroes. He commended their supreme sacrifice and the courage displayed in defending the nation.

BJP President JP Nadda echoed similar sentiments, lauding the bravery of the soldiers and emphasizing the importance of remembering their sacrifice.
