In a tweet, PM Modi expressed his delight over the productive discussions with the Sultan, stating, “The talks were wide-ranging and included ways to further cement bilateral ties between our nations.” Following the bilateral talks, delegation-level discussions and the signing of various agreements were planned, showcasing the deepening partnership.

PM Modi’s visit also included cultural engagements, such as visiting the iconic Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, where he was warmly greeted by members of the Indian community. The mosque, built by Omar Ali Saifuddien III, holds significant cultural and historical value in Brunei.

The Prime Minister’s next stop is Singapore, where he will meet Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. PM Modi’s engagement with Southeast Asian leaders highlights India’s strategic focus on enhancing regional ties and strengthening its influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

The visit to Brunei symbolizes a new chapter in India-Brunei relations, celebrating 40 years of diplomatic engagement and promising a future of strengthened collaboration.
