PM Modi Meets Victorious Nayab Saini After BJP’s Historic Hat-Trick in Haryana
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at his residence in Delhi on Wednesday, a day after the BJP stunned the Congress to win a third consecutive victory in the Haryana Assembly elections. This meeting occurred amidst the possibility that Saini might continue as the Chief Minister following the BJP’s success.
The BJP secured 48 out of 90 Assembly seats, ensuring their governance in Haryana for the third consecutive term. Nayab Singh Saini won the Ladwa constituency, defeating Congress’s Mewa Singh by a margin of 16,054 votes.
According to sources, Saini is in Delhi to consult with senior BJP leadership about finalizing his new Cabinet. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Saini and commended the BJP’s victory, acknowledging that voters across all communities had endorsed the party’s governance under his leadership.
The BJP’s comeback defied exit polls that had predicted a comfortable win for the Congress, with the BJP achieving its highest-ever seat tally in the state. Congress, which initially led in early trends, ended up with 37 seats. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) secured two seats, while three independent candidates also emerged victorious.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which contested the election solo after failed seat-sharing talks with Congress, won no seats. The Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), which had won 10 seats in 2019, also failed to win any seats.
Expressing gratitude to the voters, Nayab Singh Saini said that the people had endorsed the policies of the government led by PM Modi.
