Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, condemned the “deliberate attack” on the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Modi called the incident an attempt to intimidate Indian diplomats and emphasized that such acts of violence will not shake India’s resolve. He urged the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law. This statement marked Modi’s first official response to the violence targeting Indians by pro-Khalistani supporters in Canada.
The Ministry of External Affairs also addressed the issue, calling on the Canadian government to protect all places of worship and take action against those responsible for violence. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We call on the Government of Canada to ensure all places of worship are protected and those engaging in violence are prosecuted.”
Videos circulating on social media showed demonstrators carrying Khalistani flags, engaging in violent clashes at the temple premises. In some footage, people were seen using flagpoles as weapons. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condemned the incident, reinforcing the right of every Canadian to practice their faith safely and acknowledging the prompt response by the Peel Regional Police.
India-Canada relations strained significantly last September when Trudeau accused Indian agents of involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, an allegation firmly denied by New Delhi.
