Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a historic two-nation tour, starting with Brunei and followed by Singapore. Jaishankar described the visit as timely, given the ongoing global transformations and India’s rapid growth.

Following his Brunei visit, PM Modi will proceed to Singapore for a two-day stay from September 4 to September 5. This visit is particularly significant as it is PM Modi’s first to Singapore in nearly six years and comes at a crucial time in his third term. Discussions are expected to revolve around deepening bilateral relations, with a focus on trade, investment, and futuristic areas like green technology and advanced manufacturing.

In Singapore, PM Modi will meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and participate in an interactive session with CEOs and business leaders. The visit aligns with India’s ‘Act East’ policy, aiming to forge stronger ties with Southeast Asia and the Indo-Pacific region.

India and Singapore share a robust trade relationship, with Singapore being India’s largest trading partner in ASEAN and a significant source of foreign direct investment. PM Modi’s visit is expected to further strengthen these economic ties, alongside discussions on regional issues such as the South China Sea and Myanmar.
