Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). During the meeting, PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to the early resolution of the Ukraine conflict and the restoration of peace and stability in the region.
Sharing photos of the meeting on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “Met President Zelenskyy in New York. We are committed to implementing the outcomes of my visit to Ukraine last month to further strengthen our bilateral relations.”
This meeting marks the third time PM Modi and Zelenskyy have met in the last three months. Earlier, in August, PM Modi visited war-torn Ukraine, where he emphasized India’s stance for peace in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri shared insights from the meeting, saying, “The discussions covered bilateral issues as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict. President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude for India’s attention to these matters and appreciated PM Modi’s peace efforts.”
PM Modi’s trip to New York follows his participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, and his bilateral discussions with US President Joe Biden. The Prime Minister also addressed a massive gathering of Indian-Americans at the ‘Modi&US’ community event and engaged with top US tech leaders and CEOs during his visit.
