Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma has shown great enthusiasm for a project in Istanbul that combines environmental sustainability with animal welfare. The innovative vending machine in Istanbul dispenses food and water for stray dogs in exchange for recycled plastic bottles. Sharma shared a picture of this machine on social media, expressing his admiration and willingness to fund such an initiative.
The vending machine, created by Engin Girgin and the Turkish company Pugedon, has been in operation since 2014. It features three openings: one for depositing plastic bottles or cans, another for liquids, and a third for dispensing food and water to the stray dogs. The machine uses sensors to determine if the deposited items are recyclable. If they are, it releases a specific amount of dog food into a bowl. Any leftover water in the bottles can also be poured into the machine, which then flows into a bowl beside the food.
Sharma’s post garnered a positive response from various sections of the internet. Many users expressed their support and interest in participating in such a project. They highlighted the significant impact that recycling can have on the lives of stray animals. The idea that cities around the world could adopt similar practices to help stray animals was widely appreciated.
Girgin, who launched the project, is a passionate animal lover. He owns five dogs and has always been concerned about the welfare of street animals. In an interview, he explained how the machine works and the positive impact it has had on the community.
Sharma’s willingness to support this initiative aligns with his vision of using technology and innovation to address social and environmental issues. His post not only highlighted the innovative project but also inspired many others to consider similar initiatives in their own communities.
