A horrifying incident has surfaced in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where an Army officer and his fiancée were allegedly assaulted by police at Bharatpur police station. The incident occurred on September 14, when the couple, after being harassed by miscreants, rushed to the police station for help. What followed was a terrifying ordeal for both.
September 14: Evening
A peaceful evening turned dangerous when a group of unidentified goons started chasing the couple. Fearing for their safety, they quickly headed to the nearest police station.
September 15: 1 AM
Frightened and out of breath, the couple reached the police station to file a complaint. They were unaware that the worst was yet to come.
September 15: Between 1:30-3 AM
In a shocking turn of events, the couple alleged they were brutally assaulted by the police officers. The woman claimed she was stripped, sexually harassed, and physically tortured. She said her legs were tied with a scarf, and her hands were bound with her own jacket. She was dragged by her hair through the corridors. In an attempt to defend herself, she reportedly bit one of the officers, leading to her arrest. Meanwhile, the Army officer was locked up, rendering him helpless.
September 16
After the Army learned about the incident, they alerted the Odisha government.
September 17
Responding to public outrage and mounting pressure, the government transferred the case to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for a high-level investigation into the assault and misconduct.
September 18
As the investigation progressed, five police officers involved in the assault were suspended. The Odisha High Court granted bail to the woman wrongfully charged by the police.
September 19
Still recovering from her physical injuries and trauma, the woman was finally released. She shared her horrifying experience with the media, revealing several injuries, including a dislocated jaw.
September 20
Following a formal complaint filed by the Army officer, an FIR was lodged against the five police officers involved in the assault.
