Aakhir Tak – In Depth
Jan Suraaj Party chief and poll strategist Prashant Kishor predicted that the upcoming election in Bihar, likely in October or November, is going to be a surprise. In an interview, Prashant Kishor said that the NDA coalition in Bihar was presently “at the mercy of BJP” and Nitish Kumar has only remained as a “mask”. He said that whether BJP-led NDA coalition wins the polls or not, Nitish Kumar will no longer be the Bihar Chief Minister after November 2025. The Bihar elections are critical for the state’s future.
Prashant Kishor said, “Nitish Kumar is physically tired and mentally retired. Nitish Kumar is not in a position to name his cabinet members and their departments on camera. So, working, voting and winning elections are very big thing.” He added, “His situation is not such that he can make a big political effort.” The political landscape is rapidly changing.
Kishor stated, “When there is a division of seats, the JDU may fight for 100 seats, but even if NDA wins in Bihar in 2025, the next Chief Minister will not be Nitish Kumar. BJP will make their own Chief Minister.” He further commented that the BJP isn’t strong enough in Bihar to decide the state’s politics on its own. According to kishor’s statement, “BJP workers’ morale might be high due to win in Maharashtra and Haryana, but it also lost badly in the neighbouring Haryana. Bihar is not Delhi, it is not Haryana. Bihar’s politics is different, and its issues are different.”
The comments from Prashant Kishor have certainly stirred the pot regarding the upcoming Bihar elections. His analysis of Nitish Kumar’s current state and his assessment of the BJP’s strength in the state are likely to generate further debate and discussion in the coming weeks. The Bihar elections may be very close and important.
