During his speech in Lok Sabha on Monday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that China has surged ahead of India in global manufacturing. He alleged that India’s economy is becoming consumption-driven, benefiting only a few businessmen.

Responding to his remarks, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman dismissed his views as “stupid self-confidence.” She blamed the Congress for failing to strengthen India’s manufacturing sector during its ten-year rule.

Sitharaman accused Congress of signing an undisclosed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China during its tenure. She questioned Rahul Gandhi on the details of the agreement and asked why Congress was silent on how much land China captured from India during their governance.

Sitharaman further stated that Rahul Gandhi is “not qualified” to speak on economic matters. She criticized the UPA government for leaving the economy in crisis, leading to bank failures and business shutdowns.
